Taking good Care of your body in simple terms means being healthy and fit.

We should remember that a healthy mind resides only in a healthy body and that is having proper food nutrition, exercising regularly, drinking water and getting enough sleep.

Good health of both mind and body helps one maintain the required energy level to achieve success in life.

5 Things to be done to have healthy and fit lifestyle:

1. Intake of Nutrients

2. Drink ample water

3. Exercise

4. Maintain sanitation

5. Regular, sound sleep

People, who take their health seriously to maintaining their fitness, they should do exercises on a daily basis, eat a healthy diet, not forgetting to have enough well sleep.

It’s not wise or enough to say am healthy when you see yourself energetic, having healthy brain, flexible movements of body, happy moods, peace of mind and patience, but I can say it is a combination of both physical and mental health of a person.

Several factors determines our health such as water, pollution, sleeping habits, fresh air, sunlight, and healthy mental condition. Physical exercises are very helpful for ensuring the fitness of our mind and body.

Below are some main key physical components to good health and fitness
Swimming, marathon, cycling, gardening, yoga skipping, weight-lifting are some important activities which help us maintain fit and being healthy.



Factors that can lead to the deterioration of our health

Daily stress – stress can lead to imbalanced mental health. Your daily activities at work sometimes can be stressful, when a student feel stressed about exams and school work can be a factor.

Depression – depression is a product of Prolonged stress and it’s a health issue.

Lack of sleep – Medical experts come up with a report that People forego their destined time of sleep, tend to work late at night by constantly glued to their phones or laptops.

Sleep is mandatory for each individual and lack of sleep results in an unfit lifestyle.

Junk foods – Processed, man-made foods are not good food, they are full of junk – refined white flour, white sugar or GMO’s, artificial flavors and colors.

Consumption of junk foods habits create unhealthy well being. The National Center for Health Statistics shows more than 36 percent of adults consume junk foods daily. Please take a proper nutritional diet.

Try protein such as eggs, fish or meat should satisfy your appetite and regulate your metabolism. This will help and find you have fewer cravings for junk food,

When it comes to taking Food it depends on what works for your body and it should be full of whole foods, lots of vegetables good fats, grass-fed meats and dairy.

The United States Department of Agriculture MyPlate provides recommendations on amounts to consume from each food group to attain proper nutrition.


Health professionals consider, mental and physical health issues such as Obesity and lack of physical fitness sets the stage for heart disease, and other serious health problems.

A state of absence of diseases in your body does not only mean you have Good health but a complete physical, mental, social as well as spiritual well being of an individual.

Malnutrition may cause Kwashiorkor or not eating a healthy diet. This disease occurs in areas that have suffered famine. It occurs when there is not enough protein in a person’s diet.

In most cases, if more calories and protein are added to the diet early enough, Kwashiorkor will be successfully treated.

Recent studies suggest that Lack of sleep has been proven to lower the efficiency of your immune system and can prevent people from losing weight. It has also been proven to contributing to Type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

Sleep also gives your brain time to sort out the information it has collected during the day. This reduces confusion, improves memory and makes you more alert. Sleep also positively affects coordination and appearance.

Inadequately rested muscles can lead to injury and a tired brain can create stress and confusion. Be sure you are taking enough time to relax between activities


We come up, all rather create the conditions that lead to an unhealthy and unfit lifestyle. So, we should develop good habits and take measures to lead a healthy and fit lifestyle.

Staying healthy and fit is not difficult if taken as first priority. By following the above-mentioned simple steps, I guarantee you that each one of us can lead a healthy lifestyle.       Hi Ivan, I understand what you are saying about getting enough sleep, I also sometimes go through the same cos of maybe too much work during the day,or sometimes family issues. but I encouraging you to atlist if you can come up with a guideline for your daily routine and include sleep so that you can have enough sleep.
      about water I encouraging you to be carrying a bottle of water, and if you have been carrying it but you forget to fill up, you can go for 64oz water Bottle, it’s the best for measuring H2o intake. thanks so much and hope my information will be of great help to your health.

    I really appreciate your post and the common sense ideas presented. As a society I think we have lost touch with the simplicity of caring for ourselves. The soft machine requires both adequate nutrients and rest for repair. Without these two components the soft machine breaks down much the way a car would when you don’t pay attention to repairs.     Being and staying healthy is about some small things that we can do here and there, but we all tend to neglect them and cultivate unhealthy habits which will end up creating serious problem.

    I have never valued my sleep, I was studying until very late at night and sometimes the whole night. And I will go on with the next day without any rest. Until, one day my heart beat started to spead up and for 2 weeks I did not think it was an issue. So, just like a joke, I told my mum, she is a nurse, I saw how she got scared. We went to the hospital the same day, after some exams. The doctor said, you need to sleep, gave me sleeping pills and something for the blood. So, just like that, I could have had a heart attack at only 19 years. Since that day, I go to sleep early and take any precaution to keep fit and healthy.

    I’m proud of my son with his choice of food. He would always ask for veggies even for a snack, he only drinks fresh juice and hates carbonated drinks. We thought everything’s great but then at 9 yrs. old we found out that he developed asthma. Doctor advised him to take swimming lessons. It worked for him and made his lungs stringer.

    Sometimes it’s really hard to keep track on how healthy you are living. You maybe eating healthy and nutritious food but doesn’t get to exercise. You maybe hydrating yourself with water or getting enough sleep but you’re also stress eating a lot. Blog like yours should be kept as reminder not to miss any of the healthy guidelines we need for our body and mind. 

    We should also have a healthy spirit and a positive vibe. If we’re sad, feeling desperate or angry, it’s alright to let it come out of your system but don’t dwell on it. Thanks for sharing this to us!

      Swimming is my favourite sport and it’s the best exercise one can do cos it’s a coordination of the mind and body, and its true it helps the lungs. You are right that sometimes we forget to keep track on our health, for as to be able to to keep track of everything our body and mind healthy, we should come up with a daily routine timetable of the exercise and nuitricious food to follow so that we can live a healthy lifestyle.

    To be honest, I consider 8hours of sleep to be over the top and I can hardly see myself sleeping for that much time just in one night. Having said that, it is a habit I am trying to cultivate because I recently started to realize the importance of it. The brain and the body needs that rest to kind of reset itself. There are actually studies that proves to this one issue which is why developing the habit of sleeping for a minimum of 8hous should never be taken lightly.

      most people are glued to phone, laptop and tablet every night and it’s not healthy.     You make some excellent points in this article taking into account the fact that you have to exercise both your mind and body to truly be healthy. Sleep I think is one of the most under-rated healthy activities, with a busy lifestyle for me that was always the thing that suffered the most, there just never seemed to be enough hours in the day, 

    I really focus now on getting at least 7 hours of sleep a night and I have noticed how much that has helped other areas of my life both mentally and physically.

    what an informative post you have here on being healthy.

    I suffered from a heart attack 2 years ago now and I really didn’t care about myself whatsoever

    I was diagnosed with clinical depression so I wasn’t myself at all and would go days without even washing but as soon as I received the medication from my doctor I could see that the way to make me feel better about myself was to get a good nights sleep and a bath, which I did and felt like I was on top of the world

    You have written so many great points about getting ahealthy mind through a healthy body so I have to share this with all the people that I know.

    My comments: I do concur with the author’s article. The five things are needed order to have or maintain a healthy body, balanced and happy life. 

    1. Intake of Nutrients

    2. Drink ample water( at least 6 caps a day) 

    3. Exercise( at least 30 minutes walk a day)

    4. Maintain sanitation( clean hands, clean clothes, clean food, clean house etc) 

    5. Regular, sound sleep( at least 8 hours sleep on a daily basis)

    We need to eat all necessary nutrients that our body needs on a daily basis:

    Proteins, fat, Carbohydrates .

    The body uses three main nutrients to function carbohydrate, protein, and fat.

    These nutrients are digested into simpler compounds. Carbohydrates are used for energy (glucose). Fats are used for energy after they are broken into fatty acids. Protein can also be used for energy, but the first job is to help with making hormones, muscle, and other proteins.

    Nutrients needed by the body and what they are used for Type of nutrient

    Where it is found

    How it is used

    Carbohydrate (Bread, Grains, Fruits, Vegetables,Milk and yogurt, Foods with sugar)
    Broken down into glucose, used to supply energy to cells. Extra is stored in the liver.

    Nuts and seeds
    Milk products

    Broken down into amino acids, used to build muscle and to make other proteins that are essential for the body to function.

    Egg yolks
    Animal products

    Broken down into fatty acids to make cell linings and hormones. Extra is stored in fat cells.
    After a meal, the blood sugar (glucose) level rises as carbohydrate is digested. This signals the beta cells of the pancreas to release insulin into the bloodstream. Insulin helps glucose enter the body’s cells to be used for energy. If all the glucose is not needed for energy, some of it is stored in fat cells and in the liver as glycogen. As sugar moves from the blood to the cells, the blood glucose level returns to a normal between-meal range.

    As you’ve put it, the remedy for a healthy life is that simple. The 5 things outlined in your article are very doable but when it comes to action, most of us find it very hard to implement.

    The mental health issue is really an eye opener. We often ignore this concept, and it is mainly because we do not know how to detect stress and depression from within us and others.
